After A Long Wait.... Flight Information Finally Shows Up!!!!

Well after a long time of waiting our flights finally arrived on June 14th!! The funny thing was I (Mike) was more impatient then Miranda. She just kept telling me "Be patient, they move at a more leisure pace there." So I waited..... I waited some more..... and I waited some more. Just when I was about to tell her to go email some one and find out whats taking so long.....poof....we wake up with an Itinerary in her email. Seems to me every time I start getting impatient they finally get to us with the info we have been waiting on. So our official travels will include 8 different major cities in a course of 2 and half weeks. We will begin in Seattle, make our way to Las Vegas, stop over in Atlanta, and then to Rochester, NY. Then we leave for Cairo, first with a small layover in Chicago, then from there to Frankfurt, and then finally to our final destination CAIRO!! So with 26 hours worth of flying, 9 hours worth of layovers, covering roughly 9,760 miles by plane, and going through 8 different cities we will finally arrive at our final destination on August 12th, Cairo, Egypt!! Lots of flying coming our way starting on July 28th, but what an amazing trip this is going to be.

Moving to Cairo-The Timeline

Forever ago---I become interested in wanting to teach overseas. Found a website for a teacher recruiting agency called Teach Away. They were excessively recruiting teachers to teach in Abu Dhabi and giving them an awesome package. This started my sincere interest in teaching overseas....specifically in Abu Dhabi. 

Late March 2012--- Joined a Facebook group for teachers interested in going to Abu Dhabi for Aug 2012. I met a lot of awesome teachers. 

April 3, 2012---Applied to Teach Away for Abu Dhabi.

April 10, 2012, 5:46pm---Got a rejection email from Abu Dhabi telling me that I needed to have at least two years of teaching experience before I could even apply. 

April 10, 2012, 7:57pm--- Saw a post on the Abu Dhabi Facebook group from a teacher saying, "I know about some teaching positions in Egypt. Message me if you are interested." ......I messaged the teacher right away telling her that I was interested and would love to know more. 

April 10, 2012, 8:03pm---Said teacher emails back with information. Everything sounds awesome. The overall package is a little less than what Abu Dhabi was....but I find out that this school will allow me to apply with NO experience....and hey, I at least have 1/2 year experience. And BONUS, they interview via Skype so no need to travel anywhere for an interview. Awesome! 

April 10, 2012, 9:38pm---Application to Egypt teaching position sent in! 

April 11, 2012, 4:23am---Received email back! The principal wants to interview me!!!! 

April 12, 2012---The principal and I get in touch via phone and schedule a time to interview on Skype. Interview scheduled for the 13th at 5:30pm. 

April 13th, 2012---I interview with the principal. He is wonderful and the school sounds incredible. I also find out that a former principal at the school that had to come home because of family illness lives just 45ish minutes from me! The principal says he will get me in touch with her. 

April 15th, 2012---Met up with former principal at Starbucks over coffee. We have an awesome time chatting about everything you could think of.....and we lost track of time....oops, it's already been 2.5 hours! 

April 17th, 2012---Current principal emails me and says that I should hear from him by Mon, April 23rd at the very latest regarding a decision! Eeeeeee!

April 23, 2012, 7:00am--- No email offer letter......where is it!?!?!?!?!

April 23, 2012, 12:15pm--- Email from principal---"i am wondering which grade you think you would work best with if given the opportunity, 1st or 4th?" uhhhhhhh what's that supposed to mean? "1st" I write back immediately...

April 24th, 2012---nothing

April 26th, 2012---nothing :O 

April 28th, 2012--- ahhhhhh still nothing! 

April 29th, 2012, 2:17am----I GOT AN OFFER!!!!!! SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!! M&M are moving to Egypt!

April 29th, 2012, 1:48pm---We accept the offer!

I'd say that's a good enough timeline for now.....we are still waiting on our flights for Cairo. They are running a little late....but that's just how things work over there, if you haven't noticed. 

A lot happened in between a lot of those timeline entries. Things like, research, research, researching to make sure that Egypt was going to be the right place for us. Was it going to be safe? Would we be able to adjust to everything? Would we be able to afford it? Would it be cheap/expensive to do other travel from Cairo? Etc. Etc. Etc. After all of the research, we decided that it sounded incredible and was something that we could never pass up!

We are beyond excited to be taking such a great adventure together as husband and wife. We can't wait to experience new things, things that are incredible and things out of our comfort zone. We will be sure to share things with you along the way. I hope we can keep you entertained! :)
